• Obtaining a copy of divorce decree

I got divorced in india in 2013. I live in the usa and want to obtain a copy of my decree from chennai family courts. Preferably a certified copy or another original, since the one I have seem to be faded after years.

How do I obtain that? Is it an easy process?

Engage a local lawyer. He will obtain a copy of the divorce decree in a few days. Not a difficult problem at all.

Hello,

If you have the case number and the date on which the decree was passed, we may get the same for you. For certified you will have to give us a Vakalatnama and otherwise, I may try and get the non - certified copy.

You may get in touch for further discussion.

1. You shall have to obtain the certified copy of the said decree by filing an application to the said Court.

2. Engage a local law clerk or Advocate to  get the said certified copy for you for which you shall have to provide the details of the decree/case.

- If you having details of your divorce case , then legally you can get the certified copy of the decree from the court.

- Further , as you are not in India, then you can instruct your lawyer of that case for getting the same.

- Further , having no contact of the lawyer , then you can give authority letter to your relative or nearest one to get the same from the court.
