Hello,

You may move a representation with regards to the same and mention that due to some personal reason I need to change my name. They will not stop you from doing so and if later they ask the reason then mention numerology as the reason for the same.

A reason must be given and therefore apart from this reason you can also tell the authorities that you are changing your name because your parents want to change your name and it is their wish. I think that would carry more weight.

No you need not seek permission from anybody to change your name.

1) you need to issue a general notice if your intent to change your name.

2) You just have to prepare an affidavit stating you don't have any criminal case against you and no civil dispute in civil court, and also depose that you, with your present name, and the new name you are taking, are one and the same person and from now onwards, you will be known by the new name.

3) you have to get your new name in gazette

Dear Sir,

No one will challenge the reason unless they suspect it may be to commit fraud etc. Go ahead and just state the reason as “personal reasons”, publish two ads in one national, one regional language paper and submit those with the affidavit to publish in the government gazette. That's all. Can't remember the exact law but if I recall correctly, you can legally change your name twice with no contest. If the regulators have any objection, they will get in touch. But they would very rarely do!

What your educational and birth certificate says that will depend on these papers and some other papers also such as Aadhar Card and Pan Card, if you wants to change the spelling then you should have valid reason and order of the competent court.

- No, Numerology is not a sufficient reason to change or re-spell the name.

- You should give certain other reasons and adopt a legal way to change your name .Permission is not mandatory .

- Issue a General Public notice on two leading papers of your town after narrating the fact , that due to family background , i want to re-spell/change my name , and further with an affidavit submit the same to your Department .  -  You should publish the new name in Gazette of your state , as sometimes employer seeks the same.

An adult person can change name at any point of time and thee is no reason to be cited.

So the question taking permission from anyone including employer of the person is required.

There is no impediment in changing your name even you are a government servant. But you must notify the same to your authority for such change before and after effectively changing your name by an affidavit before First Class Magistrate, followed by publishing it in proper publication system of the government

1. It is your name, you are free to change it for whatever reasons.

2. Appointing authority cannot refuse to allow change of name unless the prospective name is such that it promotes violence, glorifies someone who incited violence or is opposed to public policy. If the permission is declined then a writ petition can be filed in the HC.

Generally there is no reason required to be produced for changing one's name because change of name itself is a reason.

You can follow the name change procedures including publication in the government gazette, which will be sufficient for changing your name as per your desire.
