• Name mismatch in various documents

My (10th, 12th, UG, passport) documents have "Gurkirat Singh" as my name and my (Aadhar, DL, PAN) have "Gurkirat Singh Padam" as my name. What should I do in this case? How can this be rectified and what is the due procedure? Would an affidavit work and how to get one?

Either makes changes of your name to appear same in all documents or make an affidavit from a Magistrate and then make newspaper publication.

name in 10th 12th UG will not matter much. similarly name in PAN will not matter and DL can also be considered as moderately important however name in passport and adhaar does matter. you can choose which name you want to keep and then you can move appropriate applications in adhaar and passport office for alteration in name. you may be required to give affidavit and other supporting documents. once a name is fixed then you can change name in other documents on the basis of the changed name documents.

- As per law, you cannot change /correct name etc in your certificates after 2 years from the passing of the said qualification.

- But , you can correct the name in other documents after executing a affidavit and publishing the same in official gazette.

- Since, you cannot correct name in the academic certificates , hence you can correct the name in all other documents after executing affidavit .

Aadhar pan and dl names can be rectified on the basis of the name in the 10th mark sheet. An application should be given to these 3 departments.

How did this error crept in?

Why did you add your surname in aadhar, DL and PAN, if your name did not have surname in your educational documents then this addition was necessary.

Anyway if you want to be known by the latest name, you my prepare a notarised affidavit stating both the names are one and the same and you will be henceforth known by this name alone.

You get it published in a local newspaper

After that if need be you can get it published in government gazette publication which wil be more authentic.
