Hello! I have a simple but complicated issue. My name is payel das. My married name is payel das shaw. My old address in my DL issued from WB is no more our house. I wanted to update my married name is my DL and possibly the adress but the name is high priority. What would be the process? Bcz the agents said it is not possible? Is there any legal way I can make it happen? It is very important for me, any advise is appreciated!! Thanks, Payel

You need to file an application before the RTO office to update the name and address in the DL, it is possible you can give name change affidavit copy along with the marriage certificate and the required form. Meet the concerned regional transport officer directly.
For change of name and address in DL after marriage, submit to R.T.O. of the jurisdiction the following documents.
1. Self signed application on plain paper requesting for name and address change.
2. NOC from the RTO, where DL was first issued.
3. Copy of marriage certificate attested.
4. Original Licence.
5. Address proof of new address.
6. Photo ID of you and your husband.
By following the above procedure, you will be getting a DL with your new name and address.
But there is no compulsion to change name after marriage. For change you need to go for gazette notification, deed poll affidavit, news paper publication and then during renewal provide the same to rto.
In DL only father surname comes so not possible.
You can apply for voter I'd of your matrimonial place, in that your new surname will come.
You have to change your name as it after marriage by first of all registering your marriage and then an application has to be given to change the name in the documents. The registration shall take 1 day.

For changing name in DL you should provide an ID with updated name while applying for renewal of DL.
And also give an affidavit with that in which it is stated that you have updated your name after marriage which is Patel das shaw and you want your new DL with updated name.
Address change is not a big issue as you just have to mention new address In application along with Address proof.
for issue of driving driving licence with married name rely upon your marriage certificate which reflects your name after marriage
you can by notification in official gazette change you r name . It should be published in 2 local newspapers
On the basis of your marriage certificate, you may get the name changed.
The name will be changed from WB only. Alternatively, you may surrender your previous DL and get the new DL issued from your present residential address.
