For a fresh applicant as an OCI Cardholder:
Current citizenship proof: Present passport having a validity of 6 months when submitting the application.
On submission in India, any type of Visa copy (excluding Mountaineering/ Missionary Visas), residential permit with at least three months validity at the time of submission of application.
Proof of self/parents/ grandparents/ great-grandparents’ citizenship of India at or after the declaration of the Indian Constitution on 26 January 1950. Or citizenship of any territory that joined the Indian States after 15 August 1947 such as:
Indian passport copy/ Domicile certificate by the competent authority
or
Nativity Certificate copy by authority/ PIO/ OCI card of parents/spouse with documents as per the PIO/OCI were issued.
or
Any other proof to support the application. A birth certificate/ residence certificate of self/parents/grandparents from District Magistrate/ First Class Magistrate of place would suffice.
For applicants registering for OCI on basis of parent/grandparent/great-grandparent proof of relationship. These could be a birth certificate with the names of both parents. If issued overseas it has to be Apostilled/Endorsed by the Indian Mission of the relevant jurisdiction.
For a minor child with both parent’s citizens of India or a single parent a citizen of India:
Birth certificate copy of the child
Domicile/ Nativity Certificate/ Copy of Passport of both/one parent or any other Indian citizenship proof of parent/s.
For parents divorced, dissolution marriage certificate stating clearly legal custodianship of parent that the child is with on whose basis OCI application is made.
Proof of spouse as a citizen of India/ of foreign origin or spouse of foreign origin of OCI cardholder.
Valid marriage certificate that is registered and shows marriage took place 2 years before the application date for OCI Card.

For the spouse of Indian citizenship Indian Passport copy/ Nativity/ Domicile Certificate from the competent authority of the Indian spouse or any supporting proof of Indian citizenship

For a spouse of an OCI cardholder, they need to submit Spouse’s OCI Card (with documents used for getting OCI Card) and a copy of Valid Passport of Spouse.
When submitting hard copies of the documents with the application the documents have to be self-attested.
The original form printout with signature, photograph, and required documents must be submitted.
For those submitting within India the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) offices are as follows: Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Amritsar, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram (Trivandrum), Ahmedabad, and Goa.
Those submitting overseas need to choose the Indian Consulate/Mission with the jurisdiction of the area the applicant is a resident of.
Upon receipt of an application via post/courier a File/Acknowledgment number is sent to the applicant as an acknowledgment of receiving the application.
To know the status of the online application please share the online registration File/Acknowledgement number.
Get in touch with Office/Mission after 10 working days of OCI documents submission at Mission/Office or after 10 working days of receiving acknowledgment number. You have to furnish the PIO Card (if applicable) or passport/s yourself or through someone authorized for registration certificate issue and attaching OCI Visa sticker. Similarly, if the form is submitted in India visit the relevant FRRO Office yourself/ or send an authorized individual.
To collect OCI documents applicant can visit relevant FRRO/ Indian Mission or send someone authorized with PIO Card and Passport and all original documents of which copies were self-attested and submitted via post/courier for verification.
When submitting the documents ensure that all related documents are enclosed before sending via post/courier to FRRO in India or Indian Post/Mission.
Concealment of any material fact or false representation etc. will lead to cancellation of registration as Overseas Citizen of India (Please refer to section 7D of the Citizenship Act, 1955).
Applicant's image and Applicant's signature must be in jpeg or jpg format, with max size 500kb.
The height and width of the Applicant Photo must be equal.
The minimum dimensions are 200 pixels (width) x 200 pixels (height).
The maximum dimensions are 1500 pixels (width) x 1500 pixels (height).
The height and width of the Signature Photo must-have aspect ratio of 1:3
The minimum dimensions are 200 pixels (width) x 67 pixels (height).

After Registration
After the online application is submitted, a copy of the printed application with an Online Registration Number is issued.
Payment of the requisite fee is to be done through VFS Global link after the creation of the profile. To verify center to send documents via post/courier to the Indian Mission/Post having jurisdiction of the area you live in check https://www.indianembassyusa.gov.in/pages/MTk. After payment of fees, a document checklist is issued to prepare the physical application copy with relevant documents before submitting it via post/courier to the Indian Mission/Post. Create two copies of the application one to post and one to keep for yourself.
Note: Any application is only processed after the relevant Indian Consular Application Centre receives the physical copy package. Until they do not receive the package the application cannot be processed.
Upon receipt of the application, a confirmation email of having received the application is sent.
To track the status of the application you will receive notifications via email/ SMS (if opted) when any change in status happens.

Your wife has been a Bangladeshi citizen in the past, so according to law, she cant apply for an overseas citizenship of India.
