• Slight error in father's name in marksheets

Hello, My father's name is "Narender" but my 9, 10, 11 & 12 standard marksheets have "Narendra" written on it, at first I didn't cared but now I think would those documents be denied to be valid or a proof in any case required.
Can I use a Notary certificate to make it count as valid?
Do I have to do any open schooling to make my education count in future?

It is minor typographical error

it would not affect validity of your school leaving certificate or mark sheet

No, no other schooling have to be done.

Either the notary stamped document will work or at max you may be required to file a declaration suit for declaration and correction of the mistake in marksheets by court orders

This is minor and ignorable error.

If all your certificates have the same name then there's nothing to be worried on this.

However if at all you want to rectify this then your father can make an affidavit stating that both the names are one and the same,  that he is known by both the names and get it notarized,  keep it along with your certificates to solve the problems at a later stage in case any problem arises then.

To Addressing your concern I hear by advise that you should publish you should publish clarifying above circumstances in official gazette of state government.

This will Address your concerns and would clarify that in place of Narendra it should be read it as Narinder.

Yes, an affidavit can solve your problem.

However in stead of notarising the affidavit get it sworn in before the first class Magistrate.

- As per law, you can correct your fathers or any other error within a period of 2 years from the date of passing the said class, after filing an affidavit or publishing in the newspapers etc.

- Otherwise, it can be corrected by an order of court .

- No, a notary certificate is valid for the same.

- Change your all other identity & address proof as per the certificates of 9, 10, 11 & 12 . Your fathers certificates are not needed for your future purposes.

- Further, change some of the fathers documentary proof as per your mark-sheets  to produce the same in need.

you can annex the copy of the Gazette notification along with the educational certificate where your father's name is spelled wrongly. It should take care of the error. Contact the authorities in your state to find our procedure for change of name.

1. 9th, 11th and 12th certificates are not even required for any purpose. Only the matriculation certificate is required and it is a proof of age when there is no birth certificate.

2. If the matriculation certificate was issued more than 2 years back then the concerned board will not rectify the error now. You may have to file a writ petition in the High Court.

3. Notarisation will not undo the error in the certificate.

Affidavit is enough to justify the spelling error except if you will apply for VISA or job out side India.

Than you have to obtain Gazette notification from collector office.

1. No need to worry as this is a minor mistake.

2. You can ask your father to make a name declaration affidavit and get it notarized mentioning that he is using both names.

No, notary certificate is not valid and it will not rectify the mistake.

No need, you can continue with your education through regular stream only.

Further, the School Leaving Certificate will have date of birth which will be taken as basis, and that, the same appears as a typographical mistake which you did not object for and kept quite for four academic years.

If you want to get it changed, you need to approach your Board and seek rectification of the same.

You can ignore it, it is not a grave mistake.

No, you cannot use a notary certificate to make it valid. You have to apply to the issuing school board to rectify the mistake and if the school board refuses to rectify the mistake, you have to file either a suit for declaration before the civil court or a petition  under Article 226 of the Constitution of India before the concerned High Court.
