Dear Sir,

Unmarried people can legally stay in a single room in a hotel. There is no law that prohibits unmarried couples from staying together in hotels. Choosing to stay together is a personal choice and falls under freedom of movement, which cannot be restricted.

The Supreme Court of India nowhere states that it is illegal for unmarried couples to book a hotel room. ... Though it is not illegal for unmarried couples to stay together, it is at the discretion of the hotels, to allow or not to allow unmarried couples to stay in their hotel

Unmarried couples can stay anywhere with consent. Nobody can take any legal action against them.

No crime s committed if two consenting adults stays in a  room of a hotel and make physical intercourse.

So if you are planning to do so then there is not much to worry expect that you should think serious of the girl and plan to marry her so as to avoid ruining her lie.

1. There is no law in India which prohibits two adult and consenting couple to spent night in hotel room.

2. However, police tries to harass the couple by threatening to put charges under immoral traffic prevention Act, 1986.

3. Fearing social stigma, the couple succumb to the demands of the police.

The Supreme Court of India nowhere states that it is illegal for unmarried couples to book a hotel room. ... Though it is not illegal for unmarried couples to stay together, it is at the discretion of the hotels, to allow or not to allow unmarried couples to stay in their hotel.

So the issue of privacy for unmarried couples is not just restricted to parks and gardens but also extends to finding a good hotel room to stay for a few hours.

It is a blatant lie when hoteliers tell you that the law does not permit them to rent out rooms to unmarried couples.

Not a single law mentions anywhere that an unmarried couple cannot stay together in a hotel. Judges and senior lawyers have openly clarified that there is no such Act or Clause in the Indian Constitution which prohibits hotels, lodges, home stays from giving rooms to unmarried couples. The reality is that not giving a room to unmarried couples is, in fact, a violation of their fundamental rights.

In a nutshell, it is okay to stay at any hotel anywhere in India with your partner. There is no law that would prohibit an unmarried couple from staying in any hotel across India. However, remember not to indulge in any illegal or suspicious activities or criminal activities during his/her stay in the hotel, in which case the hotel may inform the police authorities.

1. There is absolutely no problem in "unmarried  couple" of major age staying together in Hotel room, supported with proper identification paper /cards.

2. However, IF the police suspect any immoral activities (prostitution /gambling /etc....  ) THEN couple will be arrested and prosecuted.
