I got married in Hyderabad and shifted to raipur.we are from different religion. Can i make the marriage certificate in raipur? My husband has the address proof of raipur and i have the address proof of Hyderabad.

Yes you can marry there but you myst be a resident for at least 30 days before registration of marriage.

You can marry ubder the special marriage act. An application for marriage has ti bw given to the sdm who would be the marriage officer. A notice as it is called. A lawyer would do all the formalities.

- You can registered your marriage under the Special Marriage Act, due to being different religion ,at the office of Sub-Divisional Magistrate in whose jurisdiction any of the husband or wife resides on any working day.

- Hence , you can register your marriage from both place , as per your prefence and wish.

- The following documents are required for registration:
1. Application form duly signed by both husband and wife.

2. Date of birth proof of parties (Matriculation Certificate / Passport / Birth Certificate).

3. Address proof of both the husband and wife. Adhaar card was being required for registration too.You can produce your hydrabad proof as well or your husband can produce Raipur proof . 

4. Affidavit by both the parties stating place and date of marriage, date of birth, marital status at the time of marriage and nationality.

5. Two passport size photographs of both the parties and one marriage photograph.

6. Marriage invitation card, if available.

7. Two witness with photographs and copy of their PAN Card.

- Presence of both the parties is required after submission of documents of issuance of notice of intended marriage.

- A copy of the notice is pasted on the office notice board by the SDM. Any person may within 30 days of issue of notice , file objection to the intended marriages.

- If, no objection , then same date , you will get the Marriage certificate.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for a marriage certificate in the state of Chhattisgarh, the applicant needs to possess the following eligibility conditions.

  • Both the bride and groom should be residents of Chhattisgarh, to register for marriage.
  • Both the bride and groom should be 18 years and 21 years of age.

Documents Required

The required documents are to be produced at the time of submitting your application form.

  • Application signed by both husband and wife.
  • Proof of birth (Birth Certificate) for marriage age of 21 years or more and bridegroom age 18 years or more at the time of marriage in registration under special marriage act.
  • Ration card of husband or wife issued by Sub Divisional Magistrate in the respective area.
  • Documents to prove the stay in Chhattisgarh for more than 30 days under Special Marriage Act.
  • Affidavit of both parties in which the place of marriage, date of marriage, marital status and nationality during marriage are mentioned.
  • Two passport size photo and photograph of a marriage
  • Wedding invitation letter, if any.
  • If marriage is done at a religious place then the certificate by the priest, who completes the marriage.
  • In case of divorce, the order of divorce and verified copy of death certificate in case of widow/widower.

Government Fee Details

The applicant has to process a fee of Rs.30 for application and for marriage registration the applicant should remit payment of Rs.500.

As per special marriage Act,  you need to follow sections 15 and 16. So both of you need to live at a month in the register office area or city.  Than you can register the marriage.  Provide the one month residents proof in the Raipur than you can register it.
