• Police Verification Report

I was charged with defamation back in 2016 and later acquitted of all charges. Now that, I want to apply for Police Verification/Clearence Report for Employment and Tenancy, I'd like to know what the police would mention. Will they mention 'adverse' or 'no adverse event'? Please clarify. Thank you!

Since you are acquitted of all charges this will not reflect in your verification report adversely , it will be no adverse report only.

Was it a court complaint or FIR. If CC than no adverse remarks, if FIR than it will remark acquittal. In both situation, No negative impact.

The defamation case will be filed as a private criminal complaint, hence it will not appear in the police records.

It is not a state prosecuted case hence you cannot find any records about it in the police station, therefore you need not worry about any such report by police in this regard.

Since you say that this is a defamation case, it may not have been prosecuted by police, but in your subsequent post you are mentioning about FIR, hence this is not a case under section 500 IPC alone, it should be with other charges besides defamation.

You may have to give clear picture /information if you are serious about getting proper opinion from expert lawyers of this forum.

Well what is your concern about the incorrect spelling, it should be an advantage to you if  in case of any verification report sought with your correct name.

Dont complicate simple things by asking to amend or edit the name, you cannot do anything about it at this stage.
