  • In-laws not returning my jewelleries

My in-laws have kept my jewelleries since last 6years right after my marriage. At that time they said though you don’t have a locker its safe to keep your jewelleries here with us.Now when I am asking them to return my jewelleries they are playing and not returning my jewelleries. Initially right after my marriage both my in-laws were trying to create differences between me and my husband. Even today also they are trying their best to create a lots of disturbances in our marital life, to torture me mentally, to harass me etc.Thankfully my husband doesn’t listen to them. We are staying separately from them(in-laws). Please suggest how can I get my jewelleries back from them.

Hello,

If you want to take legal action then you may file an FIR against them under section 406 of the Indian Penal Code for taking your stridhan. However, if you do not wish to go to police directly then you may send them a LEGAL NOTICE and ask them to  refund the stridhan failing which you will be constrained to approach the police and the court.

Very easy process, lodge an FIR before women police station under 406 IPC, ask police to call them and seek for it, otherwise police will go and try to recover for you, then doors of court is open for you always, moreover, if in laws are interfering you can stay away from them too

Tge in laws have no right to keep your jewellery. If your husband is cooperative then he should ask them to return the same. If they dont then file a police complaint for the same.

Ask your husband to talk with in-laws and want jewellery to wear for different functions or festivals etc.

If you couldn't see the same jewellery than the original one may sold by them.

If they do have your jewellery ask them to return or you may file dowry case against them.

U should try to get your jewellery through some elderly person  or family member through mediation . If it doesn't work then file a complaint to the women cell who will futher forward the same to your local police station. Filing a case may permanently spoil your rel with your in-laws & it may even hamper your married life

You can inform your husband about this and ask him to get back the jewels from their custody.

If your husband is not listening or not demanding from his parents, you may inform your husband that you will lodge a police complaint against them under section 406 IPC to retrieve your jewels and you should not be blamed for the consequences in that regard after that.

Your husband will certainly convey this message to his parents, who in turn will act accordingly in the fear of police action in this regard.

Dear client

You have to give them warning that you will file police complaint for recovery of your jewellery from them. Most probably this game will help you get the jewellery.

Otherwise You should file a police complaint for illegal possession of you streedhan by your in-laws.

Or domestic violence case against your in-laws for harassing you and keeping your jewelery by illegal possession. And recovery of the same.

Dear Madam,

You can file a criminal complaint as well as civil suit for recovery of the same. You can recover the same if you use forcible tactics.

Tell your husband to recover your jewels. As by filling police complaint, can be recover but not advisable. May create rift between both. Go slow ans ask your husband or your parents to talk in laws for recovery.
