what is date of birth mentioned in your birth certificate / school leaving certificate ?

2) change your name in aadhar card , PAN card to reflect your full name

3) enclose copy of your passport , school leaving certificate

4) then apply for renewal of passport

5) your Aadhar  card is necessary for renewal of passport

6) if there is mismatch in date of birth  RPO would not issue you passport with 27 th June 1978 as date of birth without court orders

you have to explain discrepancy in date of birth

RPO may insist on court orders

it may take around a year to obtain court order

Instead of renewal I will advise you to go for a fresh passport on the basis of the Aadhar Card and Pan Card because it will take long time, this will be of no harm and will smooth, you have also settled permanently in Banglore so go for the fresh one.

Date of birth in the passport can not be changed without an order from the court of law.

It will take approximately 3-6 months for you to obtain an order from the court.

Dear Sir,

Here's a step by step guide to renew your passport-

  1. Go to Passport Seva, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of Indiaregister yourself with email id and password
  2. Once your id is activated, log in again and go to the section -apply for fresh passport/reissue of passport
  3. You can either download the form and fill or directly fill the application form online. The second option is easier as you can keep saving the filled in form until you are sure and then submit the completed form.
  4. The online application form has a lot of sections with various details. If you have no changes to do on the new passport then the process is even easier. I had to add my spouse name and also a change of address. All the details must be correctly filled. Check and recheck, if necessary. Keep your aadhar card, old passport ready to fill in all the details.
  5. Once the application form is filled and submitted you will get a confirmation page and an online payment page. Make the online payment of RS 1500, you will get a receipt for this.
  6. After the payment is done you can select the slot (date, time) and Passport Seva Kendra (psk) office of your convenience. If you are in a big city you may get a date even 2–3 weeks after you have booked.
  7. Once the booking is done you will get a receipt stating the booking confirmation and also an sms to your phone. This SMS is necessary to get entry into the psk centre.
  8. If due to any circumstance you are not able to make your appointment, you can reschedule upto 2 times max in that year.
  9. At the psk centre it took me only one hour for all the procedures. The staff there were very very efficient, polite and fast even when they had to handle a huge crowd.
  10. Make sure you are there 15–20 mins before your appointment time. Show the sms or printout of receipt to get entry. You will be frisked and baggage check done.
  11. Then you will proceed to token counters where your documents will be verified. For me the documents I had to carry were- old passport(xerox of first two and last two pages), aadhar card ( the long one)(for change in address), degree certificate (for professionals) or 10th class pass certificate(for non-ecr category), marriage certificate (for addition of spouse's name), spouse's aadhar card.
  12. It is important to carry all the originals along with one set of photocopy of the same documents. The psk centre also has the facility for xerox in case you need one.
  13. Once your documents are verified at the token counter you will be given a token with your details and a token number. This receipt should be kept carefully till the end and follow the token number on the display screens to see where you should go next.
  14. You will be asked to go to counters A->B->C
  15. In counter A your biometric and photo will be taken after your documents are checked once again. Make sure to inform the official of the changes that need to be done in the new passport and show the documents in support of the same. You will also be asked to pay Rs 50 for Sms services( better opt for this as you will be able to track the renewal process)
  16. In counter B your documents will be verified once again.
  17. In counter C after the final checking of your documents your old passport will be stamped as cancelled and given back to you.
  18. Proceed towards the exit where you will be asked to fill a feedback form.
  19. Your passport renewal process is done. You will get an sms and email confirmation of the same.
  20. All this was done in one hour and I got the sms of each stage ( the printing of my new passport was done on the same day). I went to the psk on a Tuesday evening and got my renewed passport on Friday. I was amazed at the efficiency. A job very well done!

When you will apply they may say that you have already a passport why you are trying to get another one then this question arise, this is meaning less,if you think fit, that you have traveled a lot, I have suggested a short cut because when you will go before the court, the court will ask the reason of delay and you are coming after such a long time and may say that first date of birth is correct then you will have no answer and that decision shall be binding. I will also suggest that if you have some strong documentary proof of date of birth either of 27.06.1978 or 27.05.1978 then why you not go for change in Aadhar Card or Pan Card that is also easy based on the documentary evidence.

What was the proof given to passport authorities at the time applying for passport towards your date  of birth?

If it was birth certificate then you cannot change the date of birth  in the passport, you can change the date of birth in all other documents accordingly.

What is the date of birth as per birth certificate?

Why this different date of birth appears in different documents?

You may have to file a case against the passport authorities seeking direction  to  the  authorities  to  correct the date of birth as per the orders passed by the court, since this  is  a regular  case  it  may take  at least one to two years to get  disposed.

You cannot have two passport at a time, you may have to surrender old  passport  if you  have  to get a new passport.

However if you want to renew the old passport the old passport will be given back to you after cancelling the same in their records.

  1. As you have already given your passport for renewal, still I would advice you to make an application for change in the passport stating the reason not liked by you till now or any other.
  2. Yes, you will then have to move before the Hon’ble High Court Inder Writ Jurisdiction to get changed.
  3. But, this would almost take at around 6 months as other side may also ask time for filing the reply to your petition, and there it may take some time.
