Hello,

1) It is not necessary to register under Society's Act to obtain pan card. You can form a partnership firm and apply for pan card in the firm's name.

2) If you decide to register your association as a society you will need affiliation to be a branch of another society registered else where as you both are separate entities legally.

1. You should register the society to obtain a PAN card for it. Registration would give a legal status to the association, on which basis you may apply for PAN card.

2. The affiliation has to be obtained if you desire to open a chapter of another society.

1. It is not mandatory to register the society if it is not a profit making organisation to legalise the transactions and for fighting legal battles in court. PAN can be obtained on the basis of the licence obtained for society.

2. The chapter or branch of another society means you are coming under them.

For affiliation you may have to agree to their ideologies and observe their bye laws and rules.

If you want to maintain independent identity you may run it as an independent unit.
