Show cause notice for importing sex toy

I received notice from Asst. commissioner Customs on importing sex toy. The order value noted in the notice is $6. Kindly help with the following questions 1. Is it fine to ignore the show cause notice, given the order value noted is just $6 and let the good be confiscated. 2. If no, can I say that I am not aware of this transaction\purchase and one of my friend overseas may have sent it as a gift or played prank on me without knowing the repercussions. So you may confiscate the item and waive the penalty or should I request to confiscate the item and charge the penalty. 3. What is the typical penalty charged by customs in such matters? 4. What is personal hearing? If I don't opt for it will the hearing be in public? is it necessary to have a hearing (Personal/public)? 5. Post responding to the show cause notice, what can I expect next or what's the process? How long will it take to get rid of this mess? 6. Will any civil lawyer be able to handle this issue or requires specific degree etc.? Though the lawyer fees can be influenced by a variety of factors, still if you can give me a ball park figure as to how much I may expect, like within a range, as I never consulted a lawyer before. Thanks in advance.
