My Employer sent me a Legal notice to Pay money coz I was unable to join Back coz of family issuesu

Hi Team, I joined my company around 4 August 2021, as per the bond they signed with me. Now the next renewal date should be 4 Aug 2022 but as they discuss the increment every quarter, their team signed another bond on 1 Oct per what they are saying in the legal notice when I had a word with their HR in 2022 she said the bond will be considered from 2 Aug only. It's just a basic rule of the company because we increase salary after the quarter ends. Now, From almost May 2023, I have been facing a few health issues and communicated this to my manager regularly. There were some family issues as well because I couldn't join my current company. I've been in regular communication with my manager and HR about the situation I am stuck in. But today, they sent me a legal notice that I need to pay a recovery amount as I've not joined the company. As per my joining date, my bond is already over. I need help to deal with this situation. I mean if I am regularly communicating with the manager and telling them the situation how can I be at fault? They even forced me to join back and serve a 90-day working days notice if not resign. I resigned forcefully and returned my laptop which was the only thing left with me.
