Layoff is in progress and we are asked to resign

I have been working in one of the ITES company from past 15 years, with recent changes in the management, Indian unit is asked to short staff and layoff around 60+ employees. Company is asking us to give written resignation. However, our employment terms says 2 months notice from both sides or 2 months salary and our termination policy says resignation from an employee would not be considered under Retrenchment as per section 25F. Company HR team says we are not showing it as layoff as the experience letter would show as termination, so we are asking to resign and we would provide severance. But Termination policy clearly states willingfull resignation would not be considered as retrenchment and severance wont be applicable. employer says you need to keep trust on us and most of the employees have given resignation. I am not sure about what to do. Need suggestion on this as I am the only bread earner in the family and have to think twice before making any decision. Thank you so much
