Ancestral property and it's inheritance by grandson

Hi. I am residing in Hyderabad. My parents got divorced when I was a minor and my mother had custody of us (Me - male & my elder sister). Now we are majors and do not have any contact with our birth father since the divorce as he is a bad person. Since the divorce, we lost our mother and we are living with our grandfather from our mother's side. The issue is, My birth father's father has some land of 5 acres in a village and he is expired. My birth father may have taken a loan on that land by making us sign some loan papers when we were minors. Now it has been over 20 years since the divorce and in the recent times my birth father, who stays in that same village is trying to contact us by asking for our contact numbers from our relatives saying that he wants to give that land to us instead of it going to waste. We have no interest in that land nor having any sort of communication with our birth father ever since the divorce. He is showing up at our relative's house on occasions and asking our whereabouts even when our relatives ask him to not bother us. What can we do if he is trying to know our whereabouts by asking everyone he can? Why does he want to contact us? Will I, the grandson be the legal heir of that land and also will I inherit any debts in case of loans not paid by our birth father? We are in an assumption that our birth father wants us to sign on the land papers and pay off any debts/interests of loans taken on that land. Please suggest the course of action or any precautions which we can take. Thanks a lot.
