Husband filed divorce in US using wife's domicile

Married in India involving dowry etc with marriage registered under hindu marriage act. After coming back to US after marriage, Husband (india citizen, works in US) abandoned his wife (indian citizen, works in US) in US after subjecting her to emotional/financial/physical abuse for more than 1 yr and then filed for divorce in US under irreconciable differences at the wife place of residence (using state laws that parties can file for divorce where parties last reside together and one spouse still lives). Since wife refused to participate in proceedings, he is using US attorneys and court orders to make her appear in court so she lose all her rights in India under hindu marriage act. Since he already filed divorce in US, US attorney informed that wife cant file in India and usa court has jurisdiction over matter. Husband and his attorney focing court orders to make wife appear in court so that she will automatically accept usa court jurisdiction and per usa laws, husband wont have give dowry articles back to wife. If she fails to appear when summoned for proceeding in usa, she fears court contempt orders. How can she protect herself? Is there a way to obtain India court orders to prevent this kind foreign law abuse by the husband and unnecessary suffering on wife. Wife parents lives in India. Due to covid, wife was unable to travel to india take legal actions against husband and his family.
