Employer not allowing to leave due to contract signed.

I work for a company here in Ahmedabad which is into Market Research Industry. I signed a 3 year contract with the company which states that I will stay with the company for 3 years and still if I resign, I will not be allowed to work in the same industry. Also, there is another clause in the same agreement stating "The Second Party (Employee) understands and acknowledges that the First Party (Employer) has invested huge funds in order to provide special training to the Second Party relating to its services. The First Party has further sponsored various R&D training programs of the Second Party in order to enhance the skills of the Second Party with regard to the services provided by the First Party and accordingly, the Second Party undertakes and agrees not to indulge in any activity, employment and/or business which creates competition and/or conflict of interest with the business of the First Party for a period of three (3) years immediately commencing from the date of termination of the employment of the Second Party for whatsoever reason." Now that I have completed 3 years of contract and have received a much better opportunity in another Market Research Industry, I have been asked to not go to the other company because of the contract. The company is also deducting 35% since last 4 months due to the pandemic and financial crisis. The salary that I have been offered by the new company is almost double of mine Gross salary (i.e. original salary and not the deducted one) here. Can the current employer take any kind of legal actions if I decide to switch to another company now as I cannot change my industry now after working in this industry for 9+ years? Please suggest as I am very disturbed and I am looking out for options to get out of this situation.
