Leave Policy as per Karnataka shops and Establishments Act

Hello Sir, > > I am working as HR Manager in a partnership company which was started in 2006, however the same can > be considered as Startup Company as the policies are not in place. Employees are unhappy with the Leave > policy which is currently prevailing. Company is registered under Karnataka Shops and Establishment > Act. I have read through the Act, however I am confused, hence request your help in forming the policy. > > Currently Saturday and Sunday are weekly off, there are 6 Casual Leaves and 4 Sick leaves given to > employees. 5 festival and 5 National Holidays were declared, out of which 4+4 were given as Ugadi and > Republic day was on Saturday. > > There are details which I am not clear on please help me. > 1. How many Earned leaves, Casual leave and Sick leave can be given to employees? > 2. How many Holidays should be given under the Act , is 10 compulsory or as this year it was done > by giving 8 Holidays is correct or that 2 holidays which was not given as it had come on weekly off can > be compensated with other holidays. > 3. How many hours of work employees have to clock in, currently they have to clock in 42.5 hrs > with lunch of half an hour and weekends off. > 4.
