Tenant delayed payment of security deposit

I signed a rental agreement with a tenant that says the tenant shall pay an interest free security deposit. I asked my agent to get the security deposit transferred to me via RTGS but he said that the tenant prefers to give a cheque. I agreed. The tenant did give me a cheque and I handed over the apartment. When I deposited the cheque in my bank, it bounced due to insufficient funds. I was alarmed. I requested the tenant to immediately send me the money via RTGS. The tenant didn't respond and didn't send the money even after repeated requests from my agent and myself. The tenant never requested me for any additional time to send the deposit in case they have some difficulties in getting the funds. This frustrated me as I was not mentally prepared for this situation. Finally, after a week and more work by my agent, I did receive the money into my bank account. Am I legally entitled to charge the tenant for the lost nominal bank interest that I would have earned if the tenant sent me the deposit in a timely fashion? The agreement doesn't talk about this situation this but it says that if I delay returning the security deposit to the tenant after the expiration or termination of the rental agreement, then I would have to pay the tenant interest at 18% rate.
