Payment of electricity bills

Hello I had vacated my rented premisis in Mumbai on 08/09/2018 because of a family emergency, I had occupied the said premisis as per a notarised leave and license agreement. The time period of the agreement was from 17/09/2018 to 16/7/2018. I had paid a security deposit of 75,000 rupees and my monthly rent was 24,000 rupees. The agreement stated that I had to give one months notice prior vacating. I served my notice to vacate on May 2018 [ I do not recall the exact date], further with an oral agreement with my landlord we agreed that from May till I vacate [ 08/09/2018] the rent dues etc could be adjusted against my security deposit. My agreement as per clause is subject to 13-A ( II) of the Bombay Rents, Hotel and loading house rens control act of 1947 and Section 24(2) of the Maharastra Rent Control Act, 1999. As on writing this email I was informed by my landlord through telephone that there was electricity bills amounting to 12,000 rupees, pending for the period of June-July. I was provided with a photo and there I had seen that the serve date of the bill was after I had left the premises, hence I had no idea of the amount, that has to be paid. However owing to the circumstances I frankly have been reduced to near destitude circumstances and subsisting on a 10,000 stipend. Could the experts please advice on whether I should just pay the amount, [ which would affect my savings] or take the risk of denying the payment on the oral agreement that was made with landlord? I am sorry to be so naive but in my present circumstances I rather not make any hasty decisions. I am currently based in Assam and the landlord is in Mumbai
