Notice Period Recovery

I worked in a IT company working only for 8 days and left it without serving the notice period due to health reasons. Offer letter does not have clause for compensation of notice period. Here is the terms of notice period in offer letter :- Notice for Termination: The written notice required for termination of employment by either party will be in accordance with the following: 1. 2 months for Level 1 to 6 2. 3 months for Level 7 and above For clarity purposes, please note that your notice period will be dependent on your Level at the time of your separation with the Company irrespective of the reason for separation. You would be required to serve the stipulated notice period and early release would be at the sole discretion of the Management. In case you leave your employment without giving requisite notice, no relieving letter will be issued and settlement of dues will be at the sole discretion of the Management. However, under the Company's disciplinary procedure your services can be terminated without any notice period. Now they have send me notice for recovery of notice period. Also they have not provided me details of the amount they have asked me to pay. Kindly advise if its legal to ask for compensation for notice period w.r.t above terms
