Schizophrenia

I Prasenjit Chakraborty, resident of Agartala, got married (love marriage)nine months ago. After three/four months of the marriage, I noticed disorganized behavior in the part of my wife. And, for several times, I realized that the way she talks, feels and behaves was not at all normal. The phenomenon is not seen always but, of course, a serious matter of concern. This is very unfortunate that my wife, an expecting mother, shouts high and talks about suicide even in case of minor arguments. She has also developed a tendency of telling lies on irrelevant matters- like I do assault her. Sometimes, she goes violent and makes self injuries too. Initially, I was in dark about the problem being faced by my wife but when I came in contact with a renowned psychiatrist, he informed me that my wife was suffering from Paranoid Schizophrenia (F20.0) for the last few years. He (the psychiatrist) then attended the patient and prescribed necessary medicine. Surprisingly, the entire matter was kept secret to me before the marriage. However, she is now under regular medication. But the problem is that neither she accepts the fact, nor she takes the medicine regularly. On the other hand, I am trying to contact my father-in-law since the matter came to my knowledge but he is still continuing to avoid me. While consulting the matter with respective doctor, I came to know that a tendency of committing suicide works high in some cases of schizophrenia. In that case, if my wife makes any such attempts, I will be in trouble. What should I do now to protect me and my family? Legal advises may be sent to [deleted]... Thank You
