What action should be taken when a husband deserts his wife?

The girl is married to a software engineer in the U.S. There was a small friction wherein the girl alleged interference from the boy's parents and brother in every day life. This led to the boy leaving her and was incommunicado. Despite all efforts, the boy and his parents refused to talk to the girl and her mother. The boy filed a divorce petition when he came to his native place for a wedding and the girl has been summoned. After this, the boy left for the U.S and resumed his normal work where as the girl is at her mother's place. There is absolute no communication from the boy's side even though the girl insists that she gets on well with her husband and only because of his parents pressure that he has filed for divorce. Question is 1. Whether the boy can file a divorce petition from the place where he has not lived for almost 10 years? except for the post marriage functions he was not residing at his parent's place. The marriage was solemnised in some other state and duly registered at that place.Does this lead to desertion? if so, what action can be taken against the boy and his parents?
