Been subjected to mental agony, harassment and firing threats

I am being harassed by my employer, now for about an year. I joined my current firm in January 2016. I was forced to attend a training program called MDP in the month of April 2016. I did not want to attend it because several people in the organization had suggested to me that it is a means to belittle people and in recent past there were people who were subjected to mental harassment on the said training course till they left the organization soon after the course. The said training program occurs in multiple phases, the first phase relates to self realization & effectiveness and the later relates to interpersonal relations amongst teams. To my surprise, while sitting in the course, I realized that the first part of the course had been entirely skipped and that the interpersonal feedbacks was going to be the focus. Soon, I realized that for 3 days I was the target. People, including my peer and line manager were colluding and making things up and shouting at me amounting to severe mental stress. I as well went through abdominal pain and upset stomach during that episode. Since after that, my line manager has tried to defame to in the whole company suggesting to them that and several times to me that I am not falling "in-line". Later in June/July of 2016, I happened to rate one of his favorites as not meeting expectations on his job and that the person did not have the skills to do his job despite of offering to him the support that I was capable of. It is to be noted that I did not get any support from my line manager so as to enable this said person or from the HR. Instead I was challenged relentlessly by them and forced to change the decision, which I did not. I was as well shouted at by my line manager and the MD of the company's India entity, his words were "if you do not change the decision, my hand will be forced..." - i.e. he threatened me that unless I change the decision I will be in trouble and perhaps fired. Since then, my line manager who has little to do with anything that I deliver functionally for the organization forces me to have a one-on-one meeting with him and an India wide team meeting where he does his best to shout at me and cause severe mental stress to me. He as well ties to give me directions which, such that I get derailed from my day to day work and attempts that I do not deliver on my functional responsibilities. He shouts at me, in presence of my team in those meetings and belittles me & my efforts. I have mentioned about it to my functional manager (in the US). However, given that I must respect the position / rank I have done my best to avoid conflicts. While the said favorite of my line manager was being managed out of the company, another of his favorites performed miserably and he tried to move her to a different department/work. However, due to the pressures of the SVP/CIO he could not do so and hence she had to be on a performance improvement plan that I delivered to her. Also, while the said people were being managed out of the department and organization I had to directly manage the team they were handling. Given all was not "in-line" to the wishes of my line manager, again in the month of July/Aug 2016 HR was instructed to launch focus groups about me and my team/department. Before the meeting, junior people were threatened to give negative feedbacks about me. There were perhaps some investigations as well launched about me and my way of working. Later, my line manager in presence of the functional manager delivered to me feedback that people were feeling intimidated because of me demanding high performance standards. My line manager as well has preferential standards for me and my peer/s. e.g. While he sets-up meetings for all managers of the departments, he calls in individual contributors from the team managed by my peer while does not allow me to invite team members of a similar rank from my team. I have as well been several times called in by the HR VP in a monthly meeting where he threatens me about falling in line with the line manager or else I will be in trouble and fired. It is a surprise that neither the line manager nor his friend VP HR has documented any one-on-one meeting with me. There are several other instances, and lately that the said female member in my team who happens to be another favorite of my line manager has underperformed again and is due to be fired - she has filed complaint about me. The HR is investigating this against me and I have been asked to sit home and not report to office by the CIO so as to facilitate smooth investigation. Of course they will be talking to people in my team and beyond and are causing stress to me including defaming me and hurting my career. The fact is that the said female should have been out of the company on 26-Dec-2016 but she went on medical leaves. She is back in office for 7 working days now but I have not been allowed to deliver to her, her failure on performance and hence her notice period. I need legal help on this now before I am wrongly fired. I must mention, perhaps only 50% of these things can be proved through documentation and I can only hope that the junior people will not be threatened to not speak up at all. I am considering finding a new job, and doing my best to move on from here but it is not easy to find jobs.
