1. In your own interest, obtain permission from your present employer to avoid any future inconveniences.

2. Based on the above way, you can continue to work with the present employer.  Legally it would be fine and there can't be any legal or compliance issue with your current employer.

3.  To protect your originality in writing, it's mandatory to apply for a copyright.

- Since, your company is not engaged in the business  of publishing books and giving educational services , then the permission of the employer is not required for writing a novel.

- You can apply online for getting copyright before publishing the novel .

- By way of copyright of your book , none will have right to publish the same novel with his own name.

Dear Client,

Review Employment Contract: Start by reviewing your employment contract or company policies to ensure there are no clauses that prohibit you from engaging in outside activities or businesses, including self-publishing a novel. Some companies have specific policies regarding intellectual property created by their employees, so it's essential to understand your contractual obligations.

Conflict of Interest: Consider whether your novel could be seen as a conflict of interest with your current job. If your novel is unrelated to your work and does not compete with your employer's interests, it may be less likely to raise concerns. However, if there is any potential overlap or conflict, you should discuss it with your employer or HR department.

Use of Company Resources: Ensure that you are not using your employer's resources, such as company time, equipment, or materials, to work on your novel. Keep your writing activities separate from your job responsibilities.

Disclosure to Employer: While you may not be legally required to inform your employer about your novel, it may be a good idea to have an open and honest discussion with them, especially if you have any concerns about potential conflicts or if you anticipate that your novel may become commercially successful.

ISBN Number: An ISBN (International Standard Book Number) is not related to copyright but is used for tracking and selling books. It's typically required for printed books but not mandatory for e-books. If you plan to sell physical copies of your novel, obtaining an ISBN is advisable.

Ultimately, whether publishing a novel while working is permissible depends on your specific situation, your employment contract or company policies, and the nature of your novel. Consulting with your HR department or legal counsel within your organization can provide you with specific guidance based on your circumstances.

No employee of the Company shall, except with the previous sanction of the Competent Authority, engage directly or indirectly in any trade or business or undertake any other employment. Provided that an employee may, without such sanction, undertake honorary work of a social or charitable nature or occasional work of a literary, artistic or . scientific character, subject to the condition that his official duties do not thereby suffer but he shall not undertake or shall discontinue such work if so directed by the Competent Authority.
If you're writing the book on your own time and it is not based on any company-based knowledge, then you can proceed without any restrictions.. If you're going to include any content even peripherally related to the company, it's best to check.

Doing so prevents legal misunderstandings later..

The ISBN number needs to be registered to a publisher – that would be you as the author (or your self-publishing company).

Although ISBN does not convey any legal protection such as copyright in most countries, it is essential in order for the product of the publisher, author, bookseller, retailers, etc. to be identified.
