While at the registrar’s office we learnt that our Survey was under some provision. The case is now in Supreme court.

Someone also suggested to getting the survey number changed. Would like to understand the process and who would be the right person to help us.

If the case pertaining to the survey no. Is in supreme court then that property cannot be either bought or sold without the Express order of the court.

Kindly share the judgment/ orders passed in order to better understand the controversy involved.

Your survey number may be declared by notification issued by State Government  prohibited for registration under Section 22A of Registration Act as there can be dispute pending in SC. Change of survey number cannot release property from Section 22A notification. You need to first check what the  dispute pending in Court and whether your property is subject matter of dispute. Only after that you can take further steps to release the  property from notification.

You cannot change the survey number at your own sweet will.

If you are proposing to purchase an immovable property, you may first verify the same from the revenue records o its genuineness and all other aspects involved to the property namely survey number, extent, revenue records, patta etc

If the survey number do not tally to the property's survey number you propose to purchase or if the property under the survey number you propose to buy is under litigation, what prevents you from obtaining a proper legal opinion from a local lawyer and proceed if recommended or to drop it.

- You can enquire from the office of the Registrar or the Revenue officer.

- However , since the said matter is before the Supreme Court , then you cannot apply for changing the survey number .
