• Small correction of parents name in birth certificate of my ward issued by BMC

I currently live in Thiruvananthapuram. My son was born in Mumbai. In his birth certificate, both mine and my wife's name have some small correction. He was born in 2004, the same year we shifted to Kerala.

You can apply for change in name correction as per the state government Gazette or central government Gazette.

Change in name can be performed after correct name is displayed in Gazette. So you need prepare chang in name affidavit, two news paper advertisement one in English and one in local language and submit these two in Gazette.

Correction can happen in PAN card, Aadhaar card, driving licence, passport and not in past educational certificate and birth certificates or school or college leaving certificates.

No correction can be carried out in the birth certificate now.

It's been 16 years whereas you have never bothered to make correction within one year of the registration of birth certificate.

Your application will not be entertained by Municipal authorities now.

You can follow name change procedures as per law.

- A birth certificate can be corrected from the birth place , and where the child was born.

- You can move an application before the BMC with an Affidavit , for the said correction in the parents name.

- Further, this cannot be changed from other place like Kerala , even residing there since long period.

You need to file a suit for mandatory injunction against registrar of birth and death for change in Birth certificate because they will not consider the application for rectification of error without orders from court.
