Hi Sir, I used to work in MNC in mumbai and later I got selected as a clerk in government department in rajasthan and i was asked to fill up the evidentiary letter before joining the job. In the evidentiary letter there was a column stating that ‘enter the name of the places where you have stayed for more than one year in the past 5 years’. I mentioned NIL over there though i resided in mumbai at one place for around 11-12 months but i was not sure whether i completed residing over there for more than one year. I later got selected in another government job after 2 years on a higher post where i was asked to fill the evidentiary letter and in that letter there was again the same column stating ‘ enter the name of the places where you have stayed for more than one year in the past 5 years’. This time i confirmed from my landlord lord about my stay over there in mumbai and they confirmed that i had stayed for one year in the past so this time i mentioned the address in the evidentiary letter where i had stayed for more than five one year in the past 5 years. I have joined that new job now. Will there any issue in my new job in future becoz in my previous job i didnt mention that i stayed in mumbai for more than one year and in the new job i mentioned the same. Although no FIR/case was filed against me during my tenure of stay in mumbai.

Need not to worry as you have already mentioned that you stayed in Mumbai, 1- 2 months period may not matter as in any case a PCC will be done at a later stage and the report of you staying there will come positve hence need not to worry.

You are suggested not to worry about the same because the omission you did was for the previous job which you have already. This information is asked from the candidates for verifying their antecedents and since nothing is there against you, you are not required to do anything at all.

Well, since this is just a formal requirement, you need not be worried about it.
Since you have stated that you resided in Mumbai for a period of one year, in case it is necessary the new employer may call for a verification report from the concerned police to confirm that your character and antecedents are good.
The details furnished about this with your previous employer will not reflect in the background checking with your previous employer by the present employer in case they do that.
Hence you need not be worried on that count.
You were opined that your previous employer will not furnish any such information becasue that do not come under the back ground verification even if your present employer would do that with your previous employer.

1. No need to worry if there was no criminal case against you in Mumbai during your stay.
2. But you should have maintained same stand in both the letters. Now if some problem arises then you should say that it was by mistake you wrote nil in that column.
1. Self Declaration is by word of honor, for such Govt. jobs and does not require any documentary evidences or verification for the same, unless & until the verification is for any immoral or illegal activities or records /prosecution etc....
2. By virtue of the above, You can always claim that you never stayed continuously for one year and that stay was intermittent in all respects.
3. It is advised the same may be ignored, Provided there is nothing adverse against you in any of the Police records.
No problem, the specific requirement was whether you stayed at a place for more than 5 years. As you stated, you stayed at Mumbai for one year, as such, it does not cause any problem you have rightly ignored.
As no case FIR is pending against you in Mumbai, it does not make any sense.

There would have been an issue in your previous job if they found out where you stayed in Mumbai where you worked.
