Amazon asking for customer PAN and Aadhar after not delivering a product
Hello,
We ordered two bottles of a powder on Amazon and when we opened the box few days later we found only one bottle in it. Now Amazon says we have to upload our PAN and Aadhar for them to do an internal investigation and they will not entertain any talk about return or refund.
Why should we as customers upload KYC for their problem? Is it even legal? I want to send them a legal notice for this.

Your ID proof will be stored on a secure, dedicated database and will be used solely in accordance with applicable law and Amazon’s privacy policy. In addition, our secure server software encrypts all of your personal information so that it cannot be read as the information is sent to us over the internet.
In order to upload a scanned copy of your ID proof to your account, please go to the following link on your desktop or mobile browser and follow the instructions:

Note: Please do not share your ID proof details over email since it is not a secure way to share personal information. It will take us up to 5 Days to complete the investigation and our investigation team may contact you for inquiries. We request you to contact us on February 10, 2020 for an update on this matter.
