We moved to a new apartment in May 2019. The rent agreement that the owner got created has wrong spelling of my name in it which I got to know a week later. Since then, I am trying to find a way to get the name corrected in the rent agreement. Please suggest what should I do.

1. Retrieve the original rent agreement as well as copies and make correction of name , with the permission of the landlord, and get attested both landlord and tenant's signatures as justification for the correction.
2. Otherwise sign an Affidavit before the notary, stating that the name mentioned in the rental agreement and your correct name belongs to the same person.

Has the agreement been registered if not rectify the mistake but generally. if registered then rectification deed can be executed to rectify corrections in rent agreement.
Let me know whether the rent agreement is registered. If reglistered, it is to be corrected by creating Rectification Deed of rent agreement which will become a part of rent agreement and it would also be registered.
If rent agreement is not registered, get it corrected by striking of it and in token thereof both should sign on correction.
Or, be silent as it is not giving any harm to you.
If it's registered you need to file for rectification deed for the same if not then you can execute a affidavit and do the needful

It seems to be unregistered. So get a corrigendum for the same or rectification agreement with correct rent agreement
1. Execute another "rectification deed" by annexing defective Deed and supported with proper documentary evidence & reasons for rectification deed. Both the parties have to be present before the registrar for the ".rectification deed" .
Rectification deed will execute at sub registrar office if it is register and if only notorise than name will correct on original deed, than initial of both parties and notary seal.
If there is a glaring difference in the spelling and the name itself would change in the given spelling then you may ask the owner to execute a rectification deed to rectify the name alone with correct spelling.
