See you can neither change the names in certificate nor you can file.for new certificate , what you can do is provide a supporting affidavit along with marriage certificate to.the immigration office they will consider same.
In our marriage certificate, our last and middle names are abbreviated as initials. For immigration purposes, the concerned officials want these to be expanded so that they match our names in the passports. How do we get a marriage certificate with the names expanded? When we approached the registrar office, they mentioned that there is no provision for making such changes. Someone else suggested applying for a fresh certificate and provide passports as id proofs. But not sure if this is advisable as we will end up with two registrations of marriage? Request your advice on what is the right way to get this done. Thanks, SBS

How was the marriage registered without your original names which were on your ID cards!!
Anyways registration is a one time process. Make an affidavit clearly stating that it is you whose marriage has been registered as the marriage certificate has photos too.
Also an authorized letter from the astt. Registrar stating that it is you who has been mentioned in the certificate would be sufficient.
Regards
You cannot have 2 marriage certificate
2) you can execute affidavit that both are one and same person as registrar is refusing to correct the MC
Thanks a lot, Shubham and Rahul. Shubham/Rahul - Is there any ready template available for affidavit? It would be very helpful. Rahul - the ID cards (driving license and tenth certificates) we submitted for marriage certificate done long back also did not have our initials expanded. By the way, in your experience would an Assistant Registrar issue such an authorization letter? If so, that would be hugely helpful.
There is no ready template
it depends upon facts of each case
affidavit is best solution to your problem
Yes he can issue such a letter. Because he is in charge of the register bearing names of persons who have registered the marriage. He may be reluctant initially. But it is his duty.
There is no set format for an affidavit. A lawyer can draft an affidavit of this type stating explicitly what you intend to tell the authorities. In case tge registrar refuses file a writ petition in the high court and it will issue appropriate orders to the registrar. But first approach him by giving him an application.
Regards
You need to execute an affidavit with certificate available to you which states the full name of the said initials. There is no provision for issuing fresh certificate with such intital expansion. Or you need to approach the high court under writ petition for necessary direction to the said department
See there is no easy made template you can contact local lawyer he shall draft the affidavit for you.
Dear Sir,
You have two options. You may formally issue a Legal Notice to the marriage registration authority and then file a mandatory injunction in Civil Court for allowing such collections. Alternatively you may approach High Court under Article 226 of Constitution of India.
You may get a same name affidavit done.
It is highly impossible that the registrar will issue any such authorization letter
Fresh registration of marriage will not be allowed.
As there is no provision to alter the names in the marriage certificate at this stage, it is advisable that you prepare an affidavit stating that both the names are one and the same and get it attested by a judicial magistrate first class or by a notary public and submit it to the immigration authorities who have raised the objection.
There is no template or format for this affidavit. you approach a notary public who will be having as format on his PC and prepare an affidavit to suit your case.
The marriage registrar cannot help you in this matter at this stage hence it is waste of time, energy and money to approach him once again in this regard.
Dear
If there is no provision for name change in marriage certificate then you can do nothing to change the name.
And you also cannot apply for fresh marriage certificate because you cannot have two marriage certificates.
So the best solution is to make a name Declaration affidavit in which you mention that both the names are of same person. And submit the affidavit to immigration office.
