• Need help in show cause notice on import of obscene article; to be heard in person before adjudicatn

Received a show cause notice from customs department. for the 'obscene article'.

1. Going to forward the documents requested in the notice.

But need help with this clause;

2. In case of any contravention of Customs Act, 1962, you are also requested to specifically state whether you would like have show cause notice and also inform whether you want to be heard in person before adjudication or otherwise.

3. I have to visit Ahmedabad FPO, so would prefer if the lawyer is of Ahmedabad.

Thanks. In advance.

If you have received a notice from customs department then you give a reply stating that you are not aware of the said law prohibiting the purchase, however since you agree for confiscation of the imported goods, you may request the authorities to waive your personal appearance and penalty if any.

You may send your reply by registered post and await their further instructions.

If you feel that you require to be present before them in person you can do it by yourself without the assistance of a lawyer also.

You can present your case yourself convincingly.
