• Surname of child

What would be the procedure to make the child's sir name as per the paternal grandfathers. In this case the (Hindu) Father name is different than the Grand Father and the father would like to put the grandfathers sir name for his child.

This would require that you change the name of the child by first filing an affidavit and then publishing the same in local newspapers and then in the official government Gazette. Then the name change would become official.

One can change the name or surname of his child at any point of time before he attains majority.

There is no special procedure for this.

You can just make an affidavit and then make a news paper/gazette publication and then start using the changed name/surname.

  1. As per the information mentioned in the present query, makes it clear that younwosh to put your father’s surname in at place of your child’s surname.
  2. Yes, as per the law, there is no boundation of the same in doing so.
  3. But, if your child has passed high school then procedure will be little more lengthy.
  4. As in that situation, you will have to follow the procedure as per law to amend the surname.
  5. But, if he is in lower class or too small in age then you can get the surname which you wish too. Just have to make a change in the birth certificate, if surname has been put there .

Dear Sir,

At the time of admission of the child appropriate surname may be written in the admission form.  If already admitted file a representation for changing surname of the child accordingly.

If the mother and father of the child have no objection then simply obtain the Birth Certificate by the name you wants and that will be forever.

There's no particular law to prescribe any procedures for this.

It's your own decision to give whatever name you want to give it to your child.

You can decide.
