• Re issue of passport

Hello, I had taken my passport 10years back when I was residing in my permanent address. I have all other documents - birth certificate, License, PAN & AADHAR in my permanent address. Now I am staying on rent in a girl's PG and I don't have a rent agreement. I have post paid phone bill (as present address proof which is Chennai). Is it legally ok to apply for re issue of passport in my permanent address though I am not staying there regularly? Am I going to face any difficulties in the re issue?

1. Since you have still the same address as your permanent place of residence. You can very well use the same place as your address.

2. There is no need to show your present temporary place as your address.

3. Yes, there is absolutely no legal impediment to apply for re issue or even for issuance of fresh passport your permanent place of residence even though you are presently staying in some other place temporarily.

Yes you may go ahead and apply from the place where you permanently resides.

There will be no problem with regards to the same.

Yes, passport should be at the permanent address because rental address may change frequently but permanent address remain the same for all the time and you should not require to amend your passport frequently.

hello

the re-issuance of the passport can be done at the address where you 1st applied for it. the old conditions that if you were not staying there for more than 2 years then the change of address etc.....have been changed. you have all the documents and therefore feel free to apply for renewal and you can mention the old address which is your permanent address too.

If you apply for the re issue of a passport before the expiry of the existing passport, then in some cases the RPO does not ask for a police verification for the issue of the passport.

so it is better to apply for re issue of passport at permanent address.

Dear Client,

With the launch of new scheme applicants can now choose the Regional Passport Office (RPO) and thus the desired Passport Seva Kendra (PSK)/ Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) under the RPO where they wish to submit their application irrespective of whether the present residential address specified in the application form lies within the jurisdiction of the selected RPO or not. The Police Verification, if required for a specific passport, would be conducted at the address specified in the application form. The passport will be printed and despatched by the RPO selected for application submission by the applicant.

Can apply from current place.

You have to furnish the present address only.

If you are not residing in the permanent address for more than a year then you cannot give that address as present address.

If you are staying in the PG accommodation, the rental receipts of the PG shall also provide as proof of your residence.

The landline telephone receipts may be considered as proof but not the mobile bills.

You have to provide the address proof properly so that your application will be processed or else it will be kept pending and you may find it difficult for reissue.
