• GST number without business documents

I want to have a POS terminal (Card swiping machine) but card swiping machine companies want GST numbers and proper business documents to satisfy them for issuing POS terminal.

Is there a way to get a GST number as I don't have any business and I don't even have an office to run a business.

Please suggest a way to get a GST number easily without showing any office as I just need it for a POS terminal.

Hello,

You may get a GST number showing your business as a proprietorship firm.

After taking GST you will have to open a bank account on the name of business and as a mandate will have to file GST return quaterly.

A portable card swiping costs on average 6000–7000.

PoS or Swipe Machine as it is popularly known is a technological instrument provided to the Merchant to carry out the sale of goods or services to customers in a cashless environment. All that the customer has to do is swipe his/her Debit, Credit or Prepaid Card. The procedure or eligibility to get a POS machine for a business are-

· The merchant should have a current account with a bank, with a satisfactory account operation.

· The merchant should be in retail/over the counter trade and shall not be in Visa/MasterCard negative list for malpractices.

· The turnover of the merchant through cards should be over Rs. 50000/Month.

· The merchant shall have a fixed land-line connection for Normal EDC Terminal, or otherwise, the merchant would have to apply for a GPRS-based machine.

· It’s a simple process where the merchant has to fill up an enrolment form and enter into an agreement with the bank. This application has to be processed through the bank branch where the merchant has the current account.

· After getting best POS system make sure that you secure your point of sale against breaches with POS security.

You are asking an opinion for an illegal transaction or acquisition.

If the law demands you to comply with certain conditions in this regard, why is that you do not want to comply with the said requirements.

If you canot get the machine without GST then what is you question about?
