For Ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least 5 years military service and have been released:

There is a relaxation of up to five years from the maximum attained age in the eligibility criterion for such candidates. So, the maximum age limit is 37 years for general category.

Commissioned Officers (ECOs/SSCOs) who have been released on their own accord are not eligible to take the concession.

1. No. The said defense personnel who take discharge from the service on their own request, are not eligible for age concession while applying for Civil Service Examination.

2. They shall be eligible to avail pension.

Hello,

In my opinion the said rule makes it amply clear that a person who is released on own request shall not get the benefit of age relaxation

The rule is pretty clear. Those officers who are released on their own request are not eligible to age concession.

1. Yes, that is the definition of ex-service man and there is no denial of the same.

2.However, the age concession will not be admissible to ex-servicemen and Commissioned Officers who are released on own request as per rule for applying for civil Service examination.

3. The definition of ex-serviceman has not been contradicted at all in the above matter.

Notification is not questioning the status of being EX service men but has debarred ex service men who relieved at his own.

Seeking clarification on this note in notification

"Note III:—The age concession under Rule 6(b)(v) and (vi) will not be admissible to Ex-servicemen and Commissioned Officers including ECOs/SSCOs, who are released on own request"

If there is no age concession given to the ex-servicemen, then if the said ex-serviceman is not meeting the eligibility criteria, he may not become eligible for appointment.

c) An Ex servicesmen mean a person:

(i)Who has served in any rank whether as a

combatant or non combatant in the Regular Army,

Navy and Air Force of the Indian Union and

(a) Who either has been retired or relieved or

discharged from such service whether at his own

request or being relieved by the employer after

earning his or her pension; or

What is contradicting the eligibility conditions and the phrase you have given above?

Dont get confused about the age eligibility, you will be selected if you are within the age called for in the general category.
