• Can I have a separate water connection

Ours is 3 apartments and we do not have any association for maintenance. Ground floor owner never pays water charges. We remaining two owners bearing the cost for past several years. Now the ground floor was let out and consuming lion share of water but not paying. As it is not legal to disconnect water supply from OH Tank to Ground floor, we both (1 & 2 floors) wants to have a separate sump and a separate water connection. Is it possible?

2) Normally For one building separate water connections are not given for each flats

3) if ground floor owner is not paying sue him to recover his equal contribution for water charges incurred

Usually separate water connection is not given for a same building but since you do not have any association you may try and apply in the municipality.

If the person in the ground floor is not giving his share then you can file a suit for it.

File an application before the municipal Authorities for a separate connection. You may also file a suit for recovery of arrears/damages.

Yes you can do that. Water is essential to human existence, so if you are not getting adequate quantity of water from the connection already existing then you may apply for a separate connection.

Since the ground floor occupant is not cooperating you may inform him about this and can contemplate to have your own water supply connection independently by constructing your own water storage sumps and overhead tanks exclusively for your purpose alone.

You can apply for separate water supply connection with the concerned authorities based on your property documents.
