1. There is no scope for misuse of PAN Card since there is an option of photo on the card.

2.However it is wise to lodge complaint with the Police anyway even if the PAN card number is unavailable.

3. if any engage a tx professional he can get information of the PAN Crd number from the office.

Since you don’t remember your PAN, first thing you need to do is - go to e-filing website navigate to Know your PAN - enter your last name, first name, middle name, date of birth and captcha code. You will be able to know your PAN number.

Once you have your PAN number, you can apply for a duplicate copy of PAN Card.

You can either submit the application online or you can visit nearest PAN center and submit the application in paper form along with supporting documents.

Report the loss of pan card with police by asking them to make a complaint in the lost and found register. On the basis of the acknowledgement, proceed to apply for a fresh pan and cancelation of the previous one.

The loss of PAN care should be immediately notified to the income tax department and also a complaint can be lodged with the local police about this loss.

There are chances of misusing the PAN card by miscreants if this happens to land in their hands.
