• Prostitution case.

My friend visited a prostitute and told his friend about it. Unfortunately, his friend told his father about his habit. His father scolded him and told him that he is very lucky that he is not going to report this matter to the police. Now my friend is worried that if his father goes to the police what will happen. His father is a very influential man and may be able to pressurize the police in putting a strong case on him. I would like to know weather his father can do anything or not?

1. Since it is a past incident and his father has not much details of the same no police case can be filed.

2. Even if any case is filed the same will not have much effect due to lack of information or proof of the incident.

3.So your friend is just panicking without much reason.

4. ASK HIM TO RELAX AND CONCENTRATE ON STUDIES THAN ON IMMORAL ACTIVITIES.

Prostitution is illegal in India . According to Immoral Traffic (Suppression) Act, 1956 Prostitution is illegal in India. while a woman can use her body in private for a commercial purpose - male sex workers are not recognised by the law - but she can be punished for soliciting business or seducing clients in public. Running brothels, pimping and prostitution rings - is illegal. Section 8 punishes a sex worker drawing attention of

potential customers from a visible, conspicuous site, whether in a street or private

dwelling.

With out a cogent evidence the police could not take the case against your friend and arrest the person.

Dear Concerned,

As long as your friend is not married and has not been caught red handed - he does not have to worry about visiting a prostitute - indeed Prostitution is illegal in our country - however the business is still functional openly in many parts of the country and if caught at such place may cause embarrassment and harassment on the hands of police - if married and have proofs of visitng such place - may cause issue in his matrimonial life.

As this is not the case - and his father is mere threatening - HE can not be booked on fact of having visited a prostitute in his life at some point. SO - Relax - Need not to worry.

Best of Luck

In India, prostitution (the exchange of sexual services for money) is legal, but a number of related activities, including soliciting in a public place, kerb crawling, owning or managing a brothel, prostitution in a hotel, child prostitution, pimping and pandering, are crimes. Prostitution is legal only if carried out in private residence of a prostitute or others.

A client is guilty of consorting with prostitutes and can be charged if he engages in sex acts with a sex worker within 200 yards of a public place or "notified area". (Imprisonment of up to 3 months).

However he canot be charged for it at a later stage when he is not found to be indulged at the time of arrest or for an incident that took place earlier.

He can be booked only if he was found to be indulging in it at the time of raid of a brothel.

Therefore let him not be worried about his friend's father's statements which makes no sense.

He cannot do anything for an event that took place long back even if he is having influence with police or with anyone.
