• OBC NCL certificate

Dear Sir/Ma'am,

I need your legal advice regarding some unintentional mistakes I made while applying for my OBC-NCL certificate online. The certificate has been issued automatically based on my Family ID data, but the form contains the following errors:

1. Income Field Restriction:Our Family ID verified income is ₹8 Lakhs. When I tried entering the actual gross salary of ₹11 Lakhs, the portal rejected it as the verified income was 8 lakh so it didn't allow me to enter any number more than 8 lakh . To make the form accept it, I had to enter an approximate net income of ₹7 Lakhs.

2. Father's Profession Error: My father is a Head Constable in the BSF . I correctly selected the Paramilitary category, but for the next question,
"Whether holding any post other than a civil post? I accidentally selected 'No' instead of 'Yes'.
3. Misunderstood "Professional Income":Mistaking this for my father's job, I again filled "Head Constable, BSF and ₹7 Lakhs income in this column. (He is not a doctor/lawyer/engineer).
4. Wrong Entry in "Other Sources":In the column asking for income other than salary and agriculture for the last 3 years, I mistakenly filled his net salary (7L, 6.5L, 6.5L). Our actual income from other sources is not even ₹1 Lakh.

Since the certificate is already issued online without any manual verification, I want to ask:

* Will these wrong entries create any issues during my government job ?
* Will there be any issue in verification of my OBC certificate ? As it can be verified online through the state portal and is genuine certificate

Your father was a government employee hence his salary income will not be taken into consideration for computing annual income of the family.

Therefore in the event of any verification also and in case of any such adverse remarks, you can approach the district collector for relief or file a writ petition before high court seeking remedy and relief.

Remaining silent about the issue is the best remedy for now.

They cannot terminate your employment for this reason because the rule about salary income of government employees not to be taken for computing annual income of family is very clear.

If it’s a clerical error then it can be corrected

Since your father is a Head Constable (Group C / Pay Level 4), you are completely and unequivocally under the Non-Creamy Layer, regardless of whether his gross salary is ₹11 Lakhs. Salary is not counted toward the ₹8 Lakh financial criteria for this category. Your certificate is genuine, but your application form is legally flawed due to clerical errors.

2) Log into the official state family portal (e.g., Mera Parivar Haryana).Navigate to the Correction Module or "Update Family Details" section.File a correction request specifically for your father's Occupation (ensuring it is marked as BSF/Paramilitary) and Income (ensuring gross income and salary allocations are properly mapped).

3) You will need to upload his Form 16 or Income Tax Return as official proof.

you will not face termination from your job, provided you take proactive steps now to correct these records before your final appointment. Termination typically happens if a candidate submits a fake certificate, hides their true category, or secures a benefit through deliberate fraud. In your case, you are legally and genuinely eligible for OBC-NCL status because your father is a Head Constable. Your mistakes are strictly clerical data-entry errors caused by an unyielding online portal, not forgery
