• Police officer blackmailing for booking escort

Last month I connected with escort online, discussed things on whatsapp, meet in private and paid by upi. Girl was adult. Now someone is calling that they are from police and they have arrested that girl for prositution. They have found my contact on her phone, have chat screenshots, payment details and cctv footage of me entering the building. Was asking me from where I am and how old I am etc. And blackmailing me. I have blocked that number. What should I do now? Have I done anything illegal?

- As per Supreme Court , consensual sex with a major is not an offence

- Further, the person who caught red handed at an illegal place doing sex with a girl amounts to offence

- Hence, even she caught by the police then also no offence made out against you for the said services

- It is looking a scam to extort amount with the aid of that girl.

- No need to talk with them and the said person is not a police official.

Not only block this number you may additionally block the calls received from all unknown numbers and do not entertain any calls.

This is nothing but the cheating racket, hence do not  confront the person (online or otherwise); end all contact with them immediately.

Don't pay anything to them even if they try to put pressure in different manner and keep in mind once you pay out of fear, you may have to keep paying and the  paying is unlikely to stop the blackmailer's demands.

You may even file an online complaint with the cyber crime police about this threatening and extortion activities, they will certainly take action and you may follow the instructions of the cyber crime police in furtherance,.

You may please be informed that connecting online with an escort and engaging in sexual activity in exchange for money is not inherently illegal. However, certain related activities, such as soliciting or facilitating prostitution, can be criminalized under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956.

Hrence your fears, in my opinion, is unnecessary.

However do not budge to any pressure of any type and never ever entertain any  demand for money, as you know that even you pay them umpteen number of times, you will be targeted frequently and a fear psychosis will be created on you, which will make you not able to come out due to the fear of exposure.

Hence not to worry about it anymore  and simply block them everywhere.

Dear Client,

You haven't committed a criminal act by approaching an adult escort and offering her money, provided there was no solicitation or prostitution agreement from your side. In India, prostitution itself isn't illegal, but owning or being part of a prostitution racket is. As the girl is an adult and you both happened to meet in private, your action isn't illegal. However, as blackmail phone calls are a severe issue. You should:

  • Not discuss anything or provide personal details to the blackmailer.
  • Save all the records of the calls, messages, and the blocked calls.
  • Approach the police and file a complain at your nearest police station regarding the blackmail and harassment.
  • Do not pay or react to threats.

Dear Sir,

The caller may be a scammer of fraud also or an accomplice of the said escort trying to extort the money. If you face the same thing in future, don't hesitate to file complaint againt that person. As per several orders of Courts, taking such services does not amount to crime as mentioned by you.

Based on the details you provided, it appears that you have not committed any criminal offence under Indian law. Consensual interaction with an adult escort in private is not illegal. Prostitution itself is not a punishable offence in India unless it involves public solicitation, brothel activity, or trafficking. The call you received claiming to be from the police and threatening action is likely a scam and an attempt to blackmail you using fear. Real police would issue an official notice or summon, not make threatening phone calls. Since you’ve already blocked the number, you’ve taken the right step. If the harassment continues, you should file a complaint with the local police or through the cybercrime portal (https://cybercrime.gov.in). Do not engage further or make any payments.
