• My dad has threatened to kill me and my boyfriend. What to do?

I am 26 years old and live in the UK for my job. My parents want to get me married to a boy from our caste. However, I already love someone and he loves me too. His parents are ready to accept us but my father has given me death threats that if I were to marry the love of my life he will kill me, my mother, my boyfriend and his family. I wish I would have recorded his statement on call. But we mostly talk on WhatsApp calls and they cant be recorded. He lives with me in the UK but his family lives very close to mine in India. If my father finds this out (which he eventually will if I still decide to marry my boyfriend) I am scared that he might hurt innocent people. What can I do to make sure my boyfriend's family is safe. I want to try and avoid going back to India otherwise my father can lock me up and never let me out of the house and I might lose my job.

Inform the jurisdictional Police Station in India of the potential threat by your father that he would kill you, your boyfriend and his family members so that the Police would take necessary action in the matter. You can lodge a Police Complaint online also.

1) file police complaint against your father threatening calls in city wherein your father is residing

2) you are at liberty to marry your boy friend

3) you dont need your father consent

4) dont travel back to India . get married and settle down in UK

You cannot do anything about it by residing out of country if your father tries to harm your would be parents in law in India.

You can give an alert message to them about the persisting threats to them through your father and ask them to take proper precautionary measures to safeguard their interests.

You can very well marry a person of your choice if you are an adult and of marriageable age.

If your father is threatening you then you may give a complaint to police and seek protection from your father against any harm he may try to inflict on you.

You better don't come to India for the purpose of getting married to your boyfriend,  you can get married at UK itself and get your marriage registered in Indian embassy at UK.

You can ask your would be parents in law to take appropriate precautionary measures in view of persisting threats to them due to your proposal to marry their son.

Residing at UK you cannot follow this up properly. hence it is for them to take care about their own safety.

Even if your father knows some people in the Police Station, the higher officers like District SP or Commissioner of Police in Cities can't  be influenced by the Police Personnel working in P.S. More so if you are complaining through online mode it will reach the top officer in that town/city and the action has to be initiated on your complaint.

Dear client,

It is concerning to hear about the threats that you and your loved ones are facing. It is important to prioritize your safety and the safety of your loved ones.

You may want to consider seeking help from a domestic violence organization or shelter in the UK that can provide you with resources, support, and advice on how to stay safe. They may also be able to help you create a safety plan and connect you with legal assistance if needed.

It is important to document any threats or violent behavior, including screenshots of WhatsApp messages or any other evidence that you have. If you feel that you are in immediate danger, you should call the police or emergency services in the UK.

If you decide to travel to India, you may want to consider getting in touch with the local police department or the embassy or consulate of your home country in India to inform them of your situation and concerns for your safety and the safety of your loved ones. It is important to keep evidence of the threats and communicate your concerns to the authorities in a timely manner.

In general, it is the duty of the police to ensure the safety of citizens and investigate any reports of threats or violence, regardless of any personal connections that they may have. However, if you have concerns about the impartiality of the police, you may want to seek legal advice or assistance from an organization that specializes in human rights or domestic violence issues.
