• How can we file PIL & stop telecasting of a disgusting show?

There’s a show on starplus at prime time 8:00 pm viewers have been requesting makers channel to stop showing cringe content but they aren’t been heard! Many if them have filed complaint with MIB! The show promotes abuse, regressive content! They have made fun of every profession/relationship! The pious relationship of devar/bhabhi! It’s like watching soft porn on prime time! Now they are making fun of surrogacy laws by making a woman who’s not been a mother before a surrogate without consent from the mother! How can they be so irresponsible & show such pathetic content to mislead people?? And this unlawful stuff is done right with under an IPS officer’s nose & consent! What message are they sending to general public? We want to file a PIL against the channel/ph & the actors potraying the shit!!

Dear Client,

It's not illegal to such things on TV. But you can file a petition if it has hurt the sentiments of people on a large scale under section 295 A for hurting religious belief.

If you are so much concerned about the contents of the show being telecast by the channel, you can collect the evidence and file a PIL against the channel before supreme court and seek directions to the channel to remove the unpleasant or embarrassing contents  that causes you to feel awkward, uncomfortable, and for remedy.

As an individual you cannot ask the channel to stop the telecast of the show which has been labelled by them as an entertainment, hence you can approach supreme court for relief and remedy by filing a PIL.

- Public interest litigation is the use of the law to advance human rights and equality, or raise issues of broad public concern.

- Further , it is most commonly used to challenge the decisions of public authorities by judicial review.  Judicial review is concerned with whether the law has been correctly applied, and the right procedures have been followed.

- Further, it can be filed by an individual or citizen groups or a non-government organization in the Court pursuing justice on a problem which has a broader public interest.

- Hence, if you think that this telecast is against hte sentiments of public like you then you can file a PIL before the High Court or Supreme Court.

- You can file a petition after giving all the details and resins to file the same , however better take help from a lawyer for filing and drafting the petition.

1. You can stop such shows only with Court order if the administration shows blind eyes to it.

2. File the PIL: as advised in my earlier post.
