I have a house in my home town which was owned by my maternal aunt. She passed it on to me with a will with two witnesses. I moved from the city for my professional and educational commitments and now it's been 3 years I have been to my home town. How can I get it de sealed? I am happy to pay the taxes due and any penalties. I fear the corruption of the officials and have also have been told by a friend that some people are passing the rumors that I am no longer alive. Should I write a letter to local Suprientendent of Police or DM ? How should I approach this? Also, I do no think I will be able to maintain the property as my professional commitments are too tight. Is it possible to donate the land to the Government ? Please advise.

You have to first of all approach the authorities which ave sealed this property for non payment of taxes and express your willingness to pay the taxes with penal interest up to date and give an application in this regard.
You can also mention that you acquired the property through a Will and can attach the copy of this Will along with your application and the death certificate of the erstwhile owner.
After that if you don't get a proper response or any fruitful result yo can resort to legal action as per procedures of law.
Just to be clear, Is there any timeline associated for paying the taxes ? Given my current commitments and fact that I am giving the Army exams to join the Army, I would not be able to go back to my hometown for another year or 2. Will it be under any threat of getting auctioned to get dues recovered if it takes a couple of years for me to go back ? Also, I suspect the sealing of property has been a mischief of one of my neighbours whose brother serves in the municipality and he is into construction business asking me to sell it to him for a lower price compared to market rates. Can it be possible to initiate action against him if that is the case proven to be true?
