1. Based on your Fathers Land Revenue documents (7x12 extract, Form no. 6, Gat Map .... ) you as daughter can purchase Agricultural land, by taking a legal family certificate from the local Panchayat office. This certificate should declare that Father is holding agricultural land and that you are his daughter.

If your annul income is less than 25 lacs, you can purchase agriculture land. Major married son dose not count in father`s family to continue with agriculturist status.

 - As per rule in Karnataka for purchasing agricultural land:-

i. You need to have agriculturist roots ( i.e: Family /extended family has to have documented evidence of farming)

ii. For a non-agriculturist , your annual income should be less than 25 Lakh P.A .Previously this was only 5 Lakh P.A which was hiked recently to 25 Lakh Per Annum. Hence

- Since your father is already an agriculturist root , hence you can purchase agriculture land legally.

- Further if your income from all sources is less than  25 lakh then also even being a non-agriculturist also can applied and purchase agriculture land there.

- You should approach to concerned district Deputy Commissioner ‘s office , for getting agriculture family certificate and to apply for permission to buy land.

- But the permission is granted with a condition that you will cultivate the land for 5 years from the date of purchasing the land.

Good luck and dont forget to rating Positively.

Agriculturist is the person who cultivates the land personally or through some other person and engaged in agriculture. In your case since your father is agriculturist you can be considered from agricultural family and based on same you can purchase the land.

Dear Sir,

As per provisions of Karnataka land reforms act,1961 your wife is not entitled to buy a agricultural land even though her father being a agriculturist and as per the section 79(2) (i) says "the aggregate income of all the members of a family or a joint family from source other than agricultural land shall be deemed

There is a revenue certificate that can be issued by State Govt and different states have different names for the certificates.  (Pahani etc).  There the name of the owner, the crops being grown, the name of the lessor are recorded periodically.  Those who are really agriculturists can only get such certificate.  Now some states have even digitalized the information, to make crop insurance more easy.  Right from sowing, every agricultural operation is incorporated in the data, and even for selling the produce, they check the website as to whether the seller is really having such land and grown this crop or not.

It is easy to get such fake certificates at village level.  Never take a short cut and violate the rules to get fake certificates, as it may to-day or tomorrow brings more complicated issues.  Even great persons like Amitabh and Vadra could not escape from such complaints.
