• Regarding Cast Certificate

I have 02 Domicile Certificate, One is from Bihar and another One is from Uttar Pradesh but i have State Caste Certificate from Bihar in OBC Category only but now as i am residing in U.P. only and want to have State Caste Certificate from UP in same Caste in OBC Category. Please tell me the procedure, how can i get it ? Can i get it from U.P. also or not, if i surrender the OBC Caste Certificate of Bihar ? How can i surrender it ?

You can use the same in one state. You can use the one in up and don't use it in bihar. No need for surrender

Uttar Pradesh Caste Certificate – Jati Praman Patra

Caste certificate is an important document that certifies that a person belongs to a particular community, caste and religion. Citizens of Uttar Pradesh need to get a caste certificate in order to avail the various kinds of facilities offered by the Government. Particularly for the people of the reserved category such as Schedule Caste, Schedule Tribe or Other Backward Classes to establish their candidature, caste certificate is one of the mandatory documents. This article explains about how to obtain Uttar Pradesh caste certificate or Jati Praman Patra in detail.

Benefits of Caste Certificate

As specified above, caste certificates help those who belong to reserved category such as SC/ST/OBC for availing benefits mentioned below.

  • Caste Certificate  need to be provided to obtain reservation of seats in the Legislatures
  • To get reservation in Government Service, caste certificate is mandatory
  • Relinquishing off a part or the whole of the fees for admission to college and school
  • For getting quotas in educational institutions
  • To avail upper age relaxation limits for applying to certain Government jobs
  • Caste Certificate  have to be produced to apply for scholarships
  • To obtain Government subsidies, caste certificate is needed
  • For registering schemes provided by Governments

In order to avail these privileges, citizen of Uttar Pradesh who belonging to a SC/ST/OBC must be in possession of a valid UP Jati Praman Patra.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for Uttar Pradesh caste certificate or Jathi Praman Patra, following eligibility criteria should be met.

  • Only residents of Uttar Pradesh can apply this certificate.
  • Any person belonging to the caste or class listed in Schedule-1 of the Uttar Pradesh Public Services can apply for caste certificate.

Documents Required

Following documents need to be furnished for obtaining Uttar Pradesh Jati Praman Patra.

  • Application Form in prescribed format
  • Caste certificate of father
  • Self Declaration
  • Address Proof – Ration card/Food Security Card, voter ID, telephone bill or electricity bill can be produced
  • Income certificate
  • Certificates in respect to caste / warden / village head
  • Passport Size Photograph

Applicable Fee

There is no charge for applying for Jati Praman Patra in the Tehsil office. However, you need to affix court fee stamp of Rs.1.5 with the application form. If you are applying through e-District local service centre, you have to pay a service charge of Rs.20 for caste certificate processing.

Validity of Uttar Pradesh Caste Certificate

Uttar Pradesh Jati Praman Patra is valid for life time unless the reservation itself is scrapped. 

Apply Caste Certificate through CSC centre

Procedure for applying Uttar Pradesh caste certificate is explained in steps here.

Step 1: In order to apply for Uttar Pradesh Jati Praman Patra, Fill duly the application form according to your caste category. The application form for caste certificate is reproduced here.

Step 2: Affix your passport size photograph in the application and affix court fee ticket of Rs.1.5 with the application form.

Step 3: Self declaration for getting caste certificate is reproduced below.

Step 4: Submit the application and declaration along with all required documents to CSC operating personal in your area.

Step 5: CSC person will forward the request for caste certificate online to the concerned department. Note the application number for future reference.

Step 6: Process of application process will be updated through mobile number.

After processing the application form, caste certificate will be issued. Once you received application accepted message, revisit the centre and give application number for downloading Jati Praman Patra.

No need to surrender the same , apply to PA in UP but in future use only later one otherwise this will be a criminal offence.

UP caste certificate will be invalid. OBC migrates, does not and cannot carry any special rights or privileges attributed to him or granted to him in the original State specified for that State or area or part thereof.

If your caste is falling under OBC in the state list of UP then you may surrender the community certificate obtained ion Bihar and apply for fresh community certificate in UP state by producing the surrender certificate to the authorities concerned in UP state.

First confirm that if your caste is coming under the UP state list of OBC and then get into this act and not before that.

Procedure for getting caste certificate from UP is that go to your tehsil fill up the form for caste certificate along with your IDs and domicile certificate get signatures of your local MC Or Patwari as per requirement. You will get the certificate in few days.
