• Wife threatening to commit suicide

I did love marriage 3 years back and that time my wife said she will go to my house for sometime and the stay with me at duty place. But once we got married she never went to my house with me and not even allowing me to go with her. She constantly threates me to commit suicide she blackmails me and threatening to commit suicide. So one day I just sneaked out of the house for 2-3 days and then asked her to go to her home for time being as I m mentally not feeling well. But she asks to returns and threatens to commit suicide if I won't allow. She was extremely abusive towards me and use to beat me all the time. I never disclosed this to anyone out of fear for reputation And shame. Now she has sleeping pills and threatens to kill herself all the time.

1. Collect evidence of all her such threats of committing suicide given to you for not following her diktat by audio/video recording her conversations with you.

2. Thereafter lodge a police complaint against her for giving you threats of committing suicide to force you to fcomply with her diktat.

3. Finally you can file a divorce suit on the ground of cruelty since such giving threats of committing suicide to force husband to toe the line of the wife against his wish has been considered as an act of cruelty by the Apex Court.

You cannot live under fear psychosis always.

You can lodge a complaint with the local police about her suicidal threats and her weird behavior and seek protection from her especially if she really commits suicide.

After this complaint you may ask her to go ahead with her plans to commit suicide instead of getting scared about her constant threats.

She may get scared if you raise against her and take strict action against her, she may come to a control after that.

If her behavior is still not under control then you may even plan to take her to a marriage counselor for advise and counselling.

- Be alert , If your wife even try to commit suicide or after doing so, she leaves a suicide note, you could be booked by the police under Section 306 IPC for abetting her to commit suicide.

- Further, if she does not leave any note but her family and friends in their statement give your name as the cause of your partner’s suicide then also you will be booked under the same provison of law.

- You should give an information Application/Complaint to the SHO of your area police station , after narrating that you are facing hardship as your wife is having suicidal tendencies and further you should not be held responsible in case such a thing happens.

- Further, Inform the same to her parents and also to make her attend counseling.

Dear client

In this case you have to move a little strategically to over come this cruelty and threatening of your wife.

First of all put some hidden camera with mic in the common areas of your house where she use to beat you and abuse you.

Secondly hire a good advocate and start preparing to file a divorce case on your wife under section 13 of Hindu Marriage act  in basis of Mental and physical cruelty

And stop fearing about your reputation because if she commits suicide then there will be criminal case on you of dowry death then also your reputation will be torn off.

Also file a police complaint against her for cruelty against you and threatening your for suicide.
