you can change your name by filing a suit for declaration in the civil court at Kolkata,

you have to make all institutions/boards/organization as a party in the suit, in whose documents, you intend to change the name or add the surname.

once change is done, get it affected in all documents

1. You shall have to execute an affidavit before the 1st Class Judicial Magistrate affirming that you have not included your surnamke in any of your earlier documents inadvertently which you want to include now and all the concerned authorities/Boards/Departments are required to add your surname with your bame and issue you the corrected certificate/document accordingly and the concerned departments/Authorities are required to accord the above amendment in your name and update their records.

2.After you execute the said affidavit, you can send letters to all concerned departments/authorities seeking the updation of theri record with the said amendment in your name.

3. If youn have any proof of residence in Kolkata, then you can obtain the said affidavit in Kolkata.

If you want to change your name you can follow the change of name procedure.

You have first prepare an affidavit mentioning your both the names and get it notarised. After that you can issue a public notice in  a local newspaper, wait for 15 days and then approach the government press for publication of your change of name in the government gazette publication.

Keep this copy of the gazette along with all your documetns and if need be you may apply for recording your changed name with your department in your official records.

You dont need to cahnge your passport or any other document as of now.

  1. When you are seeking any change in your name or adding a new surname in your name, you can do that but subject to get all these changes in other document except educational.
  2. You would need to fill up a form in each department requesting for the addition/ change in the surname on the ground of being married now.
  3. It would be taking some time, but thereafter you can use the same name across everywhere in the world.
  4. Rest, would do the depth research on this to provide you more appropriate solution which may not require that much formalities and time consumption.
