• One letter spelling mistake in 10th, 12th and B.E. degree for passport documentation

I have a scheduled fresh passport application appointment.

I have a concern with one letter spelling mistake in the below mark sheets documents:
10th, 12th and B.E. (the name is "Jignasa")

In other documents i.e. Voter ID, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, DL having a name "Jignasha" (which is correct).

I will require education certificates as I will be entitled to ECRN status in the passport.

Will it create an issue in passport processing? If yes then what should i do?

Thanks.

Can you afford to change the names in all of your documents?

If no than go in this order:
Get name in your PAN card changed to 10th cert (give 10th cert. as proof)
Get a new bank account or update the older one with that name.

You can also change Voter id Name and Adhaar Card name too.

Hi,

This may create an issue but you should be prepared and prepare one affidavit attested by first class magistrate that your are one and single person.

1) See you won't be able to change your name in the educational certificate at any cost as of now, however you will be able to change your name in other documents i.e. Voter ID, Aadhar Card, PAN Card, so kindly change name in all these document or ask passport authority to keep name as per Aadhar card in the passport and you may submit change in name as government gazette.

Dear Sir,

As far as, passport is concerned, that is not based primarily on educational certificates.

The only use of educational qualification is in determining the ECR/non-ECR status. Any individual having passed matriculation (10th standard) or equivalent is eligibile for non-ECR status.

The main required documents are address proof and DOB proof -

List of Acceptable Documents (DOB Proof)

List of Acceptable Documents (Address Proof)

Therefore, to minimize confusion, other DOB proof and address documents e.g. Aadhar Card, Voter Card, PAN card etc. can be submitted in which correct spelling is mentioned.

Submitting higher qualification document has no advantage in obtaining a passport. Also, minimum required documents should be submitted.

Using other than educational certificates as DOB and address proof document will require submitting only one educational document as non-ECR document, though other documents are also acceptable as non-ECR document.

Instead of changing your 10th 12th and graduation certificates it is easier to change the pan voter ID and Aadhar Card even if you don't go for the changing of voter ID that will make no effect as the voter ID is not very frequently used document PAN card and Aadhar card can be changed at anytime by  submitting the proof for name change which is wrongly misspelled.

See it will create issue it is better you prepare an Affidavit for one and same person notarised stating that both the name belongs to you and it is typographical error in the same and you shall take steps to rectify same.

Dear Sir,

You have to change the each academic certificate by following the procedure as prescribed by the concerned authority. For example SSC Board as prescribed the following procedure which is available in the following link.

In passport application whatever name is given should match with the identity proof given to support the name with proper spelling.

Therefore you need not bother about the spelling mistake in the educational certificate to that of the identity proof.

If necessary you may give an affidavit to that effect, which may not be required.
